Strength

Improvement in overall health and well-being.

Strength Training - also known as resistance training or weight training. Strength training is the use of resistance against muscular contraction to build muscle and muscular endurance. Strength training improves muscle strength and tone, increases your metabolic rate, improves posture, increases bone density and improves self-esteem. The Highlite program uses many different movements and types of resistance packaged into a 1 hour workout to maximise you fitness gains.

Training commonly uses the technique of progressively increasing the force output of the muscle through incremental weight increases and uses a variety of exercises and types of equipment to target specific muscle groups. Strength training is primarily an anaerobic activity, although some proponents have adapted it to provide the benefits of aerobic exercise through circuit training.

Resistance Training

Resistance Training - is based on the principle that muscles of the body will work to overcome a resistance force when required to do so. Strength training can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being, including increased bone, muscle, tendon and ligament strength and toughness, improved joint function, reduced potential for injury, increased bone density, increased metabolism, increased fitness, improved cardiac function, and improved lipoprotein lipid profiles, including elevated HDL ("good") cholesterol.
